Jessica Hoskin is a seasoned retail executive with a passion for entrepreneurship and start-ups. After working to successfully launch a series of beverage and beauty startups, she decided to put her experience behind her own venture, HIKI. One of her favorite elements of what she does is watching a product she loves grow. (Same, Jessica!)
What motivated you to start your own company and have you always been drawn to entrepreneurship?
I've launched retail (grocery, drug and mass) for two startups in the last seven years. My current company acquired HIKI in 2021. HIKI attempted to launch in March of 2020, but due to COVID that launch was delayed. I had the opportunity to own the brand and re-launch HIKI full force, focusing on the 67% of the US that is size 14 and above. Being an all-natural, vegan, gender-neutral line of sweat products, we are for ANY body. Entrepreneurship is a unique space where you are allowed to go outside of your comfort zone to build brands, which is incredible and energizing to me.
The name HIKI intrigues us — what inspired it?
HIKI is the Finnish word for sweat!
What's the best skincare tip you've ever received?
Honestly, SUNSCREEN for sure. Everyday, no matter your activity or sun exposure.
What's something you purchased from a small business recently that you love?
We can't wait to use our HIKI Anti-Chafe Stick and Body Powder while we sweat this spring and summer. What are some of your tips for managing discomfort from sweat throughout the day?
Anywhere your skin folds, you are going to sweat and/or chafe. It's normal. In addition to avoiding irritation with our Anti-Chafe Stick, keeping our on-the-go Body Wipes handy to wipe down sticky sweat, and splashing on a bit of our Body Powder is a great way to freshen up throughout the day!
