Everything You Need to Know About Our ClearBalm System

We get a lot of questions about our ClearBalm 3-Step System. Does it really banish breakouts and tackle fine lines? (Yes!) Do you truly start seeing results in 4 weeks? (Yup.) Is it actually gentle enough for sensitive skin? (Sure is.)

When it comes to incorporating it into your existing skincare routine, you probably want some more info—and we don’t blame you. So, we reached out to our Chief Dermatologist, Dr. Robin Schaffran, to break things down.

Product Compatible with ClearBalm? Any considerations to keep in mind?

Oral prescription treatments

Yes!

Nope—mix away!

Topical prescription treatments

"Most prescription topical treatments are compatible with ClearBalm...

...Except for salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide, says Dr. Schaffran. “They would be too irritating.”

Vitamin C serum

Yes!

In terms of where in your routine this should go, the general rule is “light serums first, followed by heavier lotions or creams,” says Dr. Schaffran.

Retinoids

Yes, but...

“...start slow,” says Dr. Schaffran, “perhaps by using a retinoid with ClearBalm in the evenings only a few nights a week to ensure you’re not irritating your skin.”

Moisturizers

Yes!

“This is not only compatible but is a good idea because the ClearBalm is technically not a moisturizer, and if you have dry skin, it might need a little extra moisture,” says Dr. Schaffran.

Spot treatments

Yes!

“I personally love ZitStickas,” says Dr. Schaffran.

Acids (glycolic, lactic, salicylic)

Maybe not.

“I would be careful with using any of these with ClearBalm,” says Dr. Schaffran. “They're superfluous, not necessary and could potentially irritate your skin when combined with ClearBalm.”

Sunscreen

Of course!

“This is obviously a must,” says Dr. Schaffran.
